இந்திய மக்கள் பெரும்பாலும் அதிக விலை உள்ள Foreign Insulin ஐ யே நம்பி உள்ளார்கள் என்பதை தற்போதைய தகவல் தெரிவிக்கிறது.
இதில் சில விடையங்கள் சரியாக இல்லை. சர்க்கரைக்கு வாழ்க்கைமுறையை மாற்றச்சொல்லாமல், மருந்து தயாரிக்கும் நிறுவனங்கள் மக்களுக்கு இன்சுலின் போட மருத்துவர்கள் மூலம் அழுத்தம் கொடுக்கிறது. இது தான் பெரிய கவலையாக உள்ளது.
இன்சுலினால் ஆபத்துக்கள் இல்லாமல் இல்லை. இது மருத்துவ நிறுவனங்களின் மிகப்பெரிய ஊழல் என்று நினைக்கிறேன். இது தான் தனக்கு சிறந்த மருந்து என்று நினைத்துக்கொள்ளும் நோயாளிகள் நாம் இதற்கு கட்டணம் செலுத்தியாக வேண்டும் இல்லை என்றால் இறந்துவிடுவோம் என நினைக்கிறார்கள். மிகப்பெரிய மக்கள் கூட்டம் இதனால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்கள்.
இன்சுலின் போடச்சொல்லி அழுத்தம் கொடுப்பதற்கு நாம் எதிராக போராட வேண்டும். இந்தியாவில் சர்க்கரை ஒரு தொற்றுநோயாகவே பரவி வருகிறது. தேவையில்லாமல் இன்சுலினில் பணம் போடுவதை விட இதன் மூல காரணத்தை கண்டுபிடித்து அங்கு பணம் செலவழிக்கலாம்.
Your recent report reveals that most of the people with diabetes in India are largely dependent on foreign-made insulin, which is expensive… There are certain things which are not going right. To put patients on insulin is a big push by industry and the doctors who in turn are influenced by the industry.
Rather than tackling the lifestyle issues, going straight to insulin is not the right option. That is a big worry because insulin is not without its harm and is expensive in India. I think it’s a medical scam, an industry scam. Patients think that this is the best drug for them, and they need to pay for it or else they would die, and a very big group of people are vulnerable to it.
I think we need to speak out against the pressure to put people on insulin. With diabetes becoming such an epidemic in India, we need to look at the root causes and put money there rather than putting people on insulin.
